Ladies & Gentleman, I'm Proud To Present...

My first blog post! Woo hoo!
Oh, my dear readers, if you only knew the excitement, anxiety, and sheer exhilaration that surrounds this posting. I'm planning on unveiling an amazing blog, designed by the wonderful ladies at "Smitten Blog Design" to coincide with New Years Eve 2010, but I wanted to get a head start so that I can get a hang of this whole blogging thing before it's 'big debut'...plus I couldn't resist their holiday backgrounds!

So please, if you'll just hang with me, I promise to provide you with a blog that will be filled to the brim with some of the most gorgeous brides you have ever seen, along with some tips and tricks to help make your wedding day 'look' be just as fabulous! I feel like it is only fair to start out this "bridal beauty" blog with my own wedding day, to introduce myself to all of the brides (and brides to be!) out there.

My name is Andrea, and I am the owner and lead stylist of "Something Blue Stylists"
...and I want you to know that it wasn't that long ago that I was in your shoes...
See now, this ladies, is where you do NOT want to be on your wedding day. *sigh* Have you ever wanted to go back in time and pop yourself one upside the head? Yea that is how I feel when I look at these pictures. I figured, at that point, with over 3 years experience in bridal hair and makeup that there was NO way that I would hire someone else to do it for me. Why waste the money right? *This is when the New Me busts in and whacks Old Me upside the head...end scene* Oh ladies, how wrong I was! On my wedding day, I realized that it wasn't necessarily about my own abilities to do my own hair and makeup. No, no. It's about stress level ladies. Peace of mind. A steady hand. And what started out as a carefree morning *imagine birds chirping*, quickly turned into a Stress Fest 2006 *thunder claps*. After running around all morning, the last thing that I wanted to do was my hair and makeup. Especially to the level of perfection that I always demand of myself when I am doing someone else's hair and makeup for their wedding day. I was too tired. I was too stressed. I needed a nap, quite frankly. Did I mention that I had pneumonia the week before? True story. I just remember standing in front of that mirror and thinking, 'Wow... I really wish that someone else was doing this right now so that I could, sit down, take a deep breath, and just relax!" Luckily, everything turned out fine, and if I do say so myself, I looked quite ravishing...thanks to the pneumonia, I lost 10 lbs :-)
So, okay, I know that every vendor says that their service is the most important. And there are so many aspects to consider of course when trying to decide where you priorities lie. But your wedding day is only really about 2 people. You and your best friend in the whole world... your Groom! (And let's face it, they don't have to do much on the wedding day besides shave and put on a fresh suit, to look ridiculously handsome.) As the years pass, all of the details become very fuzzy *trust me*, but you will always remember what you looked like on your wedding day. When a bride feels beautiful, it radiates from the inside, and when you add on top of that, the sheer happiness of knowing that they are going to marry the man of their dreams, they achieve that mythic 'bridal glow'. And that is always my goal with each and every bride. I am so looking forward to sharing with you some of the most amazing brides that I have had the pleasure of working with this past year, and I anticipate 2010 to be super crazy busy (and wonderful!), so I will have lots to blog about! Until next time, I will leave you with my favorite picture from my wedding day...
